LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – Medical City Lewisville is among 10 Medical City Healthcare hospitals to be awarded an “A” in The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grade, more than any other North Texas hospital system.
Medical City Lewisville was recognized with an ‘A’ for protecting patients from medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care. Medical City Alliance, Medical City Arlington, Medical City Dallas, Medical City Denton, Medical City Fort Worth, Medical City Las Colinas, Medical City McKinney, Medical City North Hills, Medical City McKinney, and Medical City Plano also received this award from The Leapfrog Group.
“It is a great honor to receive this award, which highlights our hospital’s dedication to patient safety and focus on providing the highest quality care and experience for our patients,” said LaSharndra Barbarin, CEO of Medical City Lewisville. “I am proud of our team for consistently achieving the highest possible level of this recognition since Fall 2016, which demonstrates Medical City Lewisville’s commitment to the care and improvement of human life.”
Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country. It uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
“To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment the whole community should take pride in,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an ‘A’ grade are making it a priority to protect patients from preventable medical harm and error. We congratulate hospital leaders, board members, staff, volunteers and clinicians who work so hard to earn this A.”
