LEWISVILLE, TEXAS – Medical City Lewisville is in the top five percent of U.S. hospitals recognized for patient safety according to Healthgrades, the leading online resource for information about hospitals and physicians.
Medical City Lewisville received the Healthgrades 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award™, which recognizes the top short-term, acute care hospitals. Medical City Lewisville was noted for being in the upper five percent of hospitals that received this award, which recognizes the nation’s top 10 percent in patient safety criteria.

The Healthgrades survey evaluated hospitals on 13 patient safety indicators and found that patients treated in hospitals receiving the Patient Safety Excellence Award were, on average:
- 6 percent less likely to experience an accidental cut, puncture, perforation or hemorrhage during medical care, than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals
- 4 percent less likely to experience a collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery in or around the chest, than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals
- 8 percent less likely to experience catheter-related bloodstream infections acquired at the hospital, than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals
- 3 percent less likely to experience pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital, than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals
Medical City Lewisville was one of five Medical City Healthcare hospitals to receive the Healthgrades 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award™, including Medical City Arlington, Medical City McKinney, Medical City North Hills, and Medical City Weatherford.
